Introduction of Security Ship Port Surcharge for All Import into Pakistan, Middle East and Upper Gulf

With effect from 01 June 2010, MISC will be implementing the Security Ship Port surcharge of USD10 per unit. This new surcharge will be applicable for all import shipments into Karachi, Bandar Abbas, Shuwaikh, Muscat, Dammam, Bahrain, Doha, Umm Qasr, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

This Security Ship Port surcharge will be collected at port of discharge.

However collection of this surcharge are not applicable for export shipments ex India ports into Karachi, Bandar Abbas, Shuwaikh, Muscat, Dammam, Bahrain, Doha, Umm Qasr, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah

The standardization of above mentioned charges is to mitigate MISC’s high operating cost.

The surcharge is essential to cover costs related to compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, including vessel security risk assessments, development of security measures and vessel ISPS certifications.
